About

I am currently an Assistant Professor of Education at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas (USA). I joined the School of Education at TWU in August, 2009. I teach in the areas of bilingual education, English as a second language, early literacy, and multicultural education. In addition, I supervise internship students.

I have been an educator for over 15 years. I have taught courses at Texas Woman's University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of North Texas. My prior experience includes serving students, parents, and teachers as Bilingual/ESL teacher, Bilingual/ESL PK-12th school district coordinator, early literacy programs coordinator, and grant administrator.

I am interested in issues dealing with language acquisition, early literacy, Bilingual/ESL education, advocacy, teacher preparation, and professional development. I am currently collaborating with an independent school district in the design and implementation of a dual language program of instruction that includes a biliteracy model.
